In this guide we’ll show you how to enable push notifications for website visitors.
Push notifications for live visitors alert you in real time whenever someone is actively browsing your website, helping you stay informed about who’s on your website. By enabling this feature, you will be also able to initiate a live chat with your website visitors in real-time. This allows you to engage with visitors as they browse your site, offering support or answering questions immediately. So let’s dive in!
Step 1: Begin by enabling the Live visitors tab and enable the live visitors feature. You can read more about how to enable this feature here.

Step 2: Next, from your Chatway dashboard click on the “Settings” icon located above your Chatway profile picture in the bottom left corner.

Step 3: On the page that opens, choose “Notifications.”

Step 3: Next, click the toggle to turn on push notifications for website visitors.

When this is enabled, you’ll now see an additional setting called “Delay before sending new live visitor notification”

This lets you control how quickly Chatway notifies you when a new visitor lands on your website. The default is 1 minute, but you can choose what works best for your traffic level.
The dropdown options are as follows:

To set up mobile app notifications, open the mobile app menu and select Notification Settings.


Similarly, you’ll see the additional “Delay before sending new live visitor notification” pop-up on your mobile device as well:


This way, you can delay the live visitor notification for your mobile app as well.
That’s all! Click the “Save changes” button to apply the changes. From now on, whenever a user visits your website, you’ll receive a notification.

Please note that this particular feature is only available with our Pro Plan. If you’re currently on the free plan, you will need to upgrade to the Pro version in order to use it.
