In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to add social media buttons to your Chatway widget. This feature makes it easy for visitors to connect with your social platforms, including WhatsApp, Messenger, Email, WeChat, TikTok, Google Maps, Waze, Discord. Enabling this feature can boost engagement on your social media channels and strengthen the credibility of your brand or product.
Chatway is a versatile Live Chat app that centralizes customer communications from websites, emails, and social media into one dashboard. Features include customizable chat widgets, multilingual support, mobile apps, team collaboration tools, analytics, and canned responses. It’s designed to enhance customer satisfaction and streamline communication across channels.
With that being said, let’s dive in!
Step 1: Open your Chatway dashboard and click on the settings icon on top of your Chatway profile picture in the bottom left corner.

Step 2: Click the Widget Settings, scroll down, and then click the setting under “Social Chat Channels”.

Step 3: Click the “Add Buttons“ button to see the available Social icons which you can add by ticking the checkbox besides the icon


Step 4: Once you selected the social icons, click on the arrow icon beside the social icon tab to expand and place the information asked.

There is a social icon-specific field where you need to place the information asked. For example, in the case of WhatsApp, you will be asked to place your WhatsApp number. Other than that, you can place the Channel name, click on the drop icon to change the background colour of the channel and use the “Show on:” setting to show the social chat button on a specific screen size.
You’ll also find a “Test” setting which allows you to preview how the chat button behaves when clicked by your website visitors. Using this feature, you can confirm that the button is functioning properly and directing users to the correct destination, ensuring no conversions are lost.

Step 5: Once you added the social chat buttons and their respective details, click the “Save” button to save and then the “Publish” button to make the changes live.

Step 6: You can go to your website, open the Chatway widget, click on “Channels” and there you will see the social handles you added and clicking on them will take you to the respective social media platforms.
