How to use the Chatway webhooks

Webhooks allow Chatway to send real-time event data to your server whenever something happens in your account or when you want Chatway to notify another system whenever something happens. For example, when a visitor sends a new message or when a conversation is updated.

Using webhooks, Chatway can automatically send data to an endpoint in your system whenever a supported event occurs. This allows your application to react to events in real time without continuously checking Chatway for updates.

Webhooks are useful if you want to connect Chatway with tools such as:

  • Automation platforms such as Zapier
  • CRMs
  • E-commerce platforms
  • Customer support tools
  • Custom applications
  • AI agents like Claude, Codex and let them manage your live chat. Learn more here.

For example, you can use a webhook to send new message data to your CRM, trigger an automation when a conversation changes, or synchronize Chatway events with another system.

So let’s get into it!

Step 1: Open the Chatway Dashboard and click on “Settings”:

Please note that only Admins and Owners can generate webhooks.

Step 2: Scroll to the “Developer Tools” section and you will find the “Webhooks” option. Click on the “Create Webhook” button to proceed.

Step 4: Add the webhook URL, name and Subscribed Events.

Here’s an example with Zapier:

  • Zapier
  • Conversation created

Chatway will display the full Webhook secret key only once when it is created so save it.

That’s it; once the webhook is created, Chatway will send data every time a new conversation is created.

Webhook logs

You can view your webhook logs here.

The logs let you review webhook delivery attempts, including the events sent by Chatway and their delivery status. You can use them to verify that your webhooks are working correctly and troubleshoot failed deliveries.

You can also check Chatway’s official developer documentation here.

Please note: Webhooks is feature available in our paid plans only. You can check our pricing page here: https://chatway.app/pricing
